What do you feel when you look at the above image?
What does it symbolize for you?
Surely you may agree that it looks positive and radiant.
Why do you think it may be?
For me, it is the laughter which gave the picture a positive and happier vibe.
That brings me on the topic of laughter and how I call it a kind of “magic pill”.
Genuine laughter is the reaction that arises when we are happy or joyous. Even if it is just for a moment but when you laugh, your heart feels light and relaxed. Laughter can affect and influence not only your mood but also other’s mood and the reason why it is called as “contagious”.
Laughing for me is a beautiful feeling that does wonderful things both on the inside and on the outside. When a person laughs then he/she gives off more positive vibes and it quickly lightens up the mood.
Reasons to encourage you to laugh more:
1) boosts your immunity:
Scientific research and evidence show that laughter has many benefits apart from just lighting up the situation. Laughter helps to decrease stress-causing hormones which increases the immunity and helps to fight illness and even inhibit the growth of cancer-causing cells.
2) helps in improving levels of emotional health:
When you laugh your body releases the hormones known as endorphins which makes a person feel happy. Endorphins are the “happy hormones” which helps an individual to feel good even for a short duration. Hence, aiding in improving the emotional health of an individual.
3) lowers stress and anxiety health:
Sharing a funny joke or laughing while watching your favorite series works as a distraction and helps you forget your worries during that particular time. This in turn helps in lowering your anxiety and stress levels.
4) helps in bonding:
Laughter acts as a great way to bond with people. It is helpful in many social situations where laughing is perceived to be as a lively and joyful aspect in conversation. People who laugh with others feel more connected with them and it helps them to bond well.
5) induces a general sense of well-being:
A person who laughs more seems happier than someone who doesn’t. Laughing makes a person feel happy internally which greatly boosts that person’s general sense of well-being.
6) helps in burning calories:
Laugh more if you wish to lose weight as it has been proved that laughter not only helps in emotional well being but can be used as a tip for those who wish to lose weight. It is proved that laughing burns calories which in turn helps you to lose weight.
7) helps you to look younger:
Laughter lines are a symbol of happiness and make a person look and feel younger than their actual age. Laughter results in brighter and clearer skin and makes you look young.
8) works as an anti-depressant:
Laughter helps in the activation of the neurotransmitter called serotonin which upon release acts as a kind of antidepressant. More and more studies and research have been done on this.
Laughter is a great medicine and it works in invisible ways and supplies many benefits, it is also considered as a form of therapy.
Laughter therapy is a non-evasive form of therapy where individuals are encouraged to laugh out loud for a significant amount of time. You can usually spot a group of people out on your morning walk, stretching their arms and loudly laughing. By learning to laugh more you are training your body to feel better and healthy.
As a kid, I couldn’t understand why these adults are laughing without any reason but as an adult I often find myself indulging in some laughter therapy.
So, what are you waiting for?
Get, set and laugh.
